I am Dr Michelle Gershoni, a BPS and HCPC registered counselling psychologist who provides evidence-based therapies in person and online in northwest London.
Having worked in the NHS and charity sectors, I have a broad understanding of psychological distress and have a particular clinical interest in working with anxiety, selective mutism, relapse prevention, and developmental trauma.
Initially, I trained in existential and psychodynamic frameworks and have incorporated cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) into my practice.

My mission is to empower my clients to confidently move forward when facing life's challenges. I view therapy as an opportunity for my clients to share their stories, reflect on their experiences, and identify what and how they would like to change. When appropriate, I offer my clients relevant skills and strategies to support them in moving towards their therapeutic goals.

As part of my pluralistic approach, I offer flexible and bespoke interventions to meet the unique needs of each of my clients. Although my aim is for therapy to be as short-term as possible, the length of therapy depends on various factors. Short-term psychological interventions target specific areas of concern. They are helpful for those clients approaching therapy with a clear understanding of their therapeutic goals and who are motivated to practice therapeutic skills between sessions. Longer-term therapies offer an opportunity for clients to explore broader issues or challenges. I work collaboratively with clients to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, reflect on how they are navigating a range of interpersonal and intrapersonal factors such as identity, sexuality, religion, values, relationships, and more, and identify any areas they wish to change.

In private practice, I work with adults and teens, and I also work with children in the area of selective mutism.
